JW didn't learn retail from a boardroom. He learned it from the sales floor — and spent the next 28 years earning every level in between. Starting as a retail associate at RadioShack, JW was progressively promoted through store management, district leadership, director, Area VP, Division VP, and ultimately Corporate VP of Operations — one of the most tenured retail operations executives in the company's history.
His defining moment came when he was handed the lowest-performing division in a four-division national organization — 1,100 locations, demoralized teams, and a track record of missing the mark. By leading with a people-first philosophy, a disciplined strategic operating plan, and a relentless focus on aligned execution from corporate to the front line, JW turned that division into the top-ranked in the company on a balanced scorecard within a single year — and sustained that performance while elevating key team members into executive roles.
Since then, JW has brought that same operational rigor to the wireless industry with Verizon, built a concierge "we-come-to-you" mobile device repair business from the ground up, led franchise and corporate operations across 384 Batteries Plus locations spanning half the country, and served as VP for the largest Stretch Zone franchisee — instilling sales culture, operational controls, performance management, and accountability to drive a full business turnaround.
